What is your investing strategy, and what is your performance? I buy 100 shares in a few small cap companies, buy and sell covered options. I have started investing for only two months, so far made 7%.

Best investing strategy for students? I'm a student in college and want to get into the world of investing. I hear people talk about putting $1 in an account and a hundred years later, it is compounded into a large amount for the future generation of the family. What is your best short term stock investing strategy? We all know there are bounces in price stock, volatility. So what/how do you look for short termers for investment potential?
What do you call this investing strategy? This seems to be a fool proof way to make 15-30% a year with no risk of principle...show me the error of my ways! What would you call it if an investor buys 1000 shares of company XYZ at $75 and at the same time shorts 1000 shares of XYZ at $75 while writing 10 of the nearest out-of-the-money calls and pockets the money on the calls with no risk to his principle? How could there be any possible downside to this transaction? If the stock goes up or down, the investor cannot gain or lose money on the common stock because his net position (both long and short 1000 shares) is neutral. How could the possible profit be less than the gain on writing the calls minus the combined commissions on the sale and purchase of the 1000 shares of common stock and the commission for the selling (writing) of the 10 calls? Am I missing something here? Why isn't everyone doing this...other than they might not have $150,000 to purchase and short 1000 shares of a $75 stock?
What is best investing strategy - best as determined by the amount of time involved vs. profitability? I am wondering if there is an investment strategy that balances time managing the investments with profitability for the most "efficicient/optimized" gains. I am interested in a broad range of levels of risk, except for the ultra high/speculative and the very very low. Also, any suggestions covering a broad range of investment types is welcome a.k.a. not just limited to securities and debt. Thanks in advance!
What is the best way to learn Dividend investing strategies? My goal is to stop working in 3 more years at age 40. I will receive about a $32K/year pension at that time and I want to put my money to work earning interest/dividends to supplement my pension. I should have about $250K to use toward a dividend strategy, and if I can make 10% year average I can add $25K to my $32K pension. I want preservation of capital but of course I'll need enough capital appreciation to stay ahead of inflation. Appreciate any advice on where to look to persue this plan...books, websites, etc. Thanks!
Best investing strategy for little money? What is the best investing strategy for someone who has a little money? The reason I'm asking is because I would like to invest a little bit of my tax check and I do not know what the best thing to invest in is. I'm looking at investing approximately $500. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please don't spam about scams or anything of this nature. I'm truly looking for investment strategies that are legal and not scams.
What is your school of thought for investing? Currently, I am reading two books on investing of opposite strategies. On one hand, I am reading Jim Cramer's Real Money book where he believes the market is not 100% efficient and there is money to be made that beats the indexes by a decent return. Year after year, these are found in the small cap, less discussed stocks. On the other hand, I am reading "A Random Walk Down Wallstreet," which discusses investing behavior and how people through the centuries have been burnt by "castles in the sky." This book recommends value investing the Warren Buffet way in ETF's, etc. Warren Buffet said in his 2005 letter (paraphrased), "Investors have had a string of good returns but have learned any number multiplied by zero equals zero." Basically, I am just looking for some conversation on which school of thought you believe in and why. Thanks in advance and I apologize for any spelling/grammar errors. Ed, what would I do without you.

Day Trading Investing Stocks I Need Two Or Three Proven Strategies? Hi I have been Daytrading the Nasdaq, Amex, Nyse, BB and PK stocks using Etrades level 2 software. I have had success trading news stories, earnings Good/bad, Share Buybacks, gaps up and down, buyouts and FDA news approvals and non approved. I have read dozens of books and been on courses regarding day Trading but the best trades I have made I have figured out myself. I Am Looking for more specific Individual ideas that others may have found successful. For instance I watch the news feeds all day looking for key words in news that will trigger a price move or I'll spot a loser and follow it for 2-3 days till it's almost dead and then buy it as it bounces back, another good one is following the top 10 risers of the day till 10.10 am and then buy one that carries on it's rise. So anybody got any Good Individual ideas I will appreciate it.

Where to learn good strategies for personal finance / investing? I read Personal Finance for Dummies and it was a great book, it covered the basics quite well and got me on the right track. Now I'm looking to get a bit more advanced. Just to be clear, I'm not looking to become a professional money manager - I know it's an enormous topic, and while it'd be great if I knew everything in the world, there's only so many hours in the day :-) I just want to go a bit beyond the basics and know enough so that I can better evaluate what my broker tells me, develop some longer-term strategies, and that type of thing. Any recommended magazines to subscribe to, books to read, websites to visit, and things of that nature would be ideal. Thanks!

Can you assist me in developing a basic strategy for a little investing? I'm finally starting to recover from the stock market crash a few years ago, where I stupidly had everything tied up in techs, and lost just about everything... so i dont want that to happen again! I'm up to about $20k that is readily available to invest, and I will be able to add about $1000 per month to that. I need some ideas that will get me on the right track. I dont mind a high risk factor, but i dont want to be too stupid like last time, either. I'm thinking a little short-term, some long-term, and some high risk, but dont know what percentages to put where, or where to put it, and would definitely welcome some advice.

Has anyone else been taken by Income Strategies Institute? Income Strategies Institute (ISI) holds seminars on investing--stock market, real estate, & internet businesses. I attended an ISI seminar in which they offered to educate & train you to successfully trade on the stock and options markets, via seminars & other provided materials. Their speaker was very motivational & I purchased their Bronze workshop program which provided me with webinars, seminars, & materials to learn stock trading & options. This cost me to this point $ 8,015.00. I received 2 poorly written manuals (these manuals appear to contain plagerized materials--no notations or credits given to anyone & no copy right on manuals), attended 2 webinars, & two 2-day seminars on said subjects. The instructors on the webinars promised notes to be emailed to the students within a day or two. Instead, it took a week+ & seminars were worse! I found everything ISI had charged me for was available on-line or via other sources for free! ISI would not refund my money when asked!

How should I be investing my extra cash? Currently, I am investing in my employers 401K to the max as well as my Vanguard Roth IRA to the max. I also have an individual account with Vanguard (T-Bills) which is my emergency fund/big ticket down payment account. What do I invest in now? Currently, if I have anything left over at the end of the month, I've been investing in another index fund within my individual account. Basically, my current strategy is the keep the extra cash liquid, but I'm willing to gamble it.
