Is GE a good company to invest in with a DRIP? I was looking to start investing and a DRIP plan sounds good to me. GE is a large diversified conglomerate that isn't likely to fall apart anytime soon. They will grow but they aren't a high growth company. I still have to look up what they have been paying for dividends though. If not any other companies? Maybe CSX?

Are there any tax benefits for investing in DRIP as Custodian? I want to invest money in securities for my new born. Should I want to invest in Divident Re Investment Plan? I want to basically park some money every month so that it can benefit my son when he goes to college, etc. I could do that under my own name and SSN or set myself up as a Custodian for my son under Uniform Transfer to Minors Act. I am hoping tax will be paid on the gains by my son at a time when he will have little income (when is in 18). Is that right? Is there anything like I can get any tax benefit for money invested in DRIP now? Any other persectives are welcome.

21 year old, decides to invest in drip, thoughts from the experienced!? im 21 years old and i decided that i would invest in DRIPS as i can slowy add money to build shares without brokers, i plan to do this because i prefer long term investing as i retire at 50 with my job. that offers a 401 and pension which im already contributing to thats why i think drips is also best because i dont need a hunk of money to buy shares i can slowy build. my Question what a companys are best to invest in i think i would like around 8-10 different compays as in 10 years i would have a good amount of shares in all of them. and once i buy the requiring shares for all the companys to qualify for drips what do i do? what are some of your choices you would go with compay wise? coca-cola, Mcdonalds, walmard, GE,? i just would like to hear your thoughts because this is where i found out about drips. Thank you

(duh) what im saying is, whats a good plan to see solid ROI vs the risk? i have been playing around with the stock market both with real money and doing "pretend" portfolios and noticed quickly that commisions kinda kill ya if you dont have TONS of money to invest!!!! so im entertaing all investment ideas? who knows, i may just go to the casino and play roulette, black and red...thats a fifty fifty right!

2 vs. 4 or 5 how many drip investments should i Have??? im 21 years old an am planing on using my 3400 tax return to start some drip invest ments with Coca Cola (KO) General Electric (GE) Johnson and Johnson (JNJ) Mcdonalds (MCD) but the problem i have is i would like to invest in all of these but doesnt it make more sense to ivest in 2 vs 4 or 5 becase i could have more shares in 2 and money value in 2 and since i am 21 i dont make lots of money to spread around to 4 or 5 accounts to obtain shares to add up. whats the best way to go about this??
Does anybody have any thoughts/reviews on SogoInvest or Zecco? I am debating between opening a Sogoinvest account or a Zecco Account. I like having an Automatic Investment Plan which Sogo Invest has. Should I invest in a DRIP or pay off loans first? Right now about 12% of my income (pretax) goes to my 401(k) and the rest goes to bills and making payments (usually double) on my student loans. I am wondering if I should lower the amount I am investing in my 401(k) and put some of it into a few DRIPs. Or would I be better served to pay off my loans before investing further? Thanks Technically I realize you cannot "invest in" a DRIP, as it is an option for existing shareholders, but humor me...

DRIP question? I'm a little confused on how taxes work for a DRIP. I've done a lot of online research but it's still a little vague but here's my interpretation so far... I invest in a company for say 10 years. Each year, I report how much money I received in dividends (all of which I have chosen to reinvest), and I pay taxes on that amount. Then I go to sell the shares at the 10 year mark. (Final sale amount) - (initial investment + initial commission + (each dividend times their respective share prices) + final commission to sale the shares) = capital gains that I pay taxes on. Is this correct or did I misinterpret what I've been reading?
Is it OK to Use Canned Spray Paint on Unfinished Furniture? My wife and I have been brush-painting our unfinished Alder kitchen chairs by hand, and we're getting drips and uneven blotches everywhere. If we want to speed up the process and make things look nicer, do we have to invest in a Spray Gun, or can we use good ol' canned spray paint?
Stocks question - which is the best way for me to invest? Would it be better for me to pay to use an online company like e-trade or ameritrade & pay the $10 per trade fee - or to direct buy stock (DRIP) from the company if they charge a $7.50 registration fee & a $0.15 per stock fee when you sell? I am looking to only invest a couple thousand & plan to let it sit for like 15-20 years without touching it.
How can I invest $25 a month? I'm trying to put money each week aside so I save. But in doing this I looked around and saw something called DRIPs. What is the best way I can invest $25 a week, and is there a better way to invest $25 a week? Any websites that I can use would help to. I am new at thius and just need to start saving and trying to make my money work for me. Any help or guidence would be great. I don't have a lump some of cash either. Remeber to list the best web sites to buy through. And I do plan on doing this for a long time. Not a short term thing but I would be open for them. Thanks everyone
funds versus annuity again? Im used to my dad getting 8-10% on some funds and 12-18% on other funds for the last few years. With me inheriting this (a trust), I am figuring on keep the same methods. Though he was 90+ and I am mid 40's. It seems to me, that whether old or young, that funds are a good way to go. I figure on retaining some of it as annuities or cd (at most 25%, like dads). I dont plan to do stocks at all except for good yield dividend stocks that I would hold for long term. (&/or also Drip investing)> I neglected detail. This is all inside a trust account and up to 1/3 will be used to pay bills (income) while majority of inheritance will be left alone. Based on my dads trust performance I cant see why other senior citizens would opt for annuities when dad was averaging a around 12-15% consistantly. His min was around 8% on a couple of funds but as high as 18% on others. Eventually about 10% of trust will actually be in a IRA (traditional & ROTH) though not neccessarily in a trust. Why settle for 3-6% on a cd or annuity (my mom). I guess I need to understand more. My parent was making nearly $57000 a year on his funds because it was paying for his nursing home/assisted care out of profits made.
How do I sell my stocks now? I was investing in a DRiP through computershare. I wanted to close my account and deposit the stock certificates into my Roth IRA. Apparently I cant deposit the certificates into my Roth so now I have this stock certificate and don't know how to go about selling it. Does anybody know how I could go about cashing it in now?
trachea pain and post nasal drip...? i'm having some pretty wicked post nasal drip which is causing my trachea to hurt like a sonofabitch. i have tried gargling, nasal irrigation, etc and these give only temporary relief. i've tried taking sudafed sinus and allergy (decongestant and antihistamine) and that doesn't help that well either. my trachea still hurts like mad. the only thing that helps right now is taking massive amounts of advil, but if i keep going at this right my liver is going to fall out. i can't get any sleep without OD'ing on advil, and even then i can only get about 4 hours until the advil wears off and i'm waking up because my trachea is so F-ing sore. the back part of my sinus cavity right above my uvula is also pretty sore. my trachea mainly hurts right near the notch between my clavicles, and it hurts when i breathe. what gives? should i see a doctor? i really don't want to invest doctor time right now. anyone have any other remedies for me? ps swallowing is a b*tch too.

Where can I buy stock in Coach? I've looked everywhere online and can't find a place to buy the stock from. The Co's website does not seem to allow direct buying from them. Yes, there are lots of ads offering the option of buying with them for a fee - they often seem to have a lot of "strings" attached (monthly fees etc.). It does not seem to be a company that allows for DRIP's (Direct Re-investing Programs). Let me know!
