What is the best "high yield" investment with $8000? I have $8000 cash to invest but I'm new to investing. What are some "high yield" investment strategies? I am not currently employed so I have some time to devote to this task. I would ideally like to create a snowball effect of earning on this $8000 and continue to make money investing rather than working a 9-5. Any suggestions? please explain the strategy, its return on investment, and its risks. Thank you.
Does anyone know of a high yield bond index fund? I'm a fan of junk bonds, but I'm not interested in taking a gamble at investing in individual ones or even individual bond funds. Is there an index fund that copies the growth of high yield bonds as a whole? And what can I expect it's expense ratio to be? Thanks for your help.
How do you find out if your high yield fund has real levereged buyout junk or good but lower qualitybonds? Although there was a sharp increase in the interest rate on low-grade debt securities, there was little if any increase in interest rates on investment grade securities, which constitute the vast majority stocks in S&P 500. This is because the increase in the spread between investment-grade bonds and the Treasury yields was more than offset by the drop in U.S. treasury yields, so credit costs for quality stocks have not increased. But high yield mutual funds may not differentiate between lower quality bonds the the LBO junk? HOw do you tell what a particular high yield fund has? I don't want to invest in the buyout of Cadbury Schweppes soft drink segment.
How do you set up this Linear Programming Problem? A couple with $20,000 decides to invest in two types of bonds: those yielding 5% and those yielding 12%. The amount invested in the higher yield bonds will not exceed the amount invested in the lower yield bonds. Three times the low-risk investment plus the high-risk investment should not exceed $50,000. What is the optimal investment strategy? What is the maximum annual return?
CD, high yield savings, or money market for $5K bonus? I have $5K and need advice: 1. Should I do a CD ladder? Interest rates are really low right now making me wonder... 2. Should I just dump it all into my high yield savings? 3. I'm not familiar with money markets, but the rates are comparable to a high yield savings. Note: I have enough invested in my retirement and individual accounts.

I would like to invest in something starting with $5,000 and garner a high yield. What are my options? Over time I would like to continually invest more money. $5,000 I've decided will be the starting rate. I've researched somewhat about investments, but I don't have any experience. However, I'd very much would like to take the dive in capitalism and capitalize greatly over say....a five year period. What options can you suggest to a beginner like me to invest in? I am also considering foreign investments. What options do I have with that?
How do you feel about using loans to invest? How do you feel about using credit to invest in higher yielding investment vehicles, then keeping the difference in interest for yourself as profit? People (especially Americans) comfortably buy cars that depreciate on credit, or buy houses using loans. How do you feel about using that same concept but investing the funds from your line of credit with your Forex trader, stock broker, or hedge fund for example? Resources: http://corporatemillions.com
could someone recommend a good high-yield dividend-paying ETF? i'm a faithful suze orman viewer, and i've heard her mention high-yield dividend-paying ETFs as a good way to invest. my plan is to dollar cost average with an investment of a few hundred dollars each month, and to do so consistently for the long haul. is there a solid fund someone could recommend i start and stick with? is this even a good idea?
CD or High Yield Savings? I am saving money to purchase a house after I finish graduate school. I am currently 22 and plan to invest for between 8-10 years depositing in 1000 month during that time period. Would it be best to deposit the amounts solely into a high interest savings account, a CD, or both. I'm well versed in High interest savings accounts but I'm still a little confused with the purpose of CD's besides not being a great option for long term investing. Would my plan be considered long term? More info on a viable route would be much appreciated. Thanks and Merry Christmas!
High dividend yield problem? If you invest in a company that has a high dividend yield and the price goes up the yield lowers correct? It doesn't stay in proportion so it's always the same yield. So like a share of $100 with 10% you'd get 10. Lets say the share increases to 110 would you get 10% of that or would you just get 10 dollars like previously. Becuase I was thinking with all these prices that are really low should you be worried about the yield percentage becusae when the price increases the yield will decrease .
Borrow money from low interest credit card and invest it in higher interest yield account? I got an offer where I can borrow money from my Credit card for 1.99% APR until Feb. 2008. There is a fee of $75.00 which is minimal as the amount I would borrow would be about $18,000. I can take this money and invest it in a savings account that has an APR of 5.35%. I can make the monthly payment straight out of the account and make an effective 3% interest on the money. Would this be a good idea? The only down fall I see is how the extra debt would affect my credit score over the next year (currently in the mid 700's). However, I do not plan on borrowing any money over the next year and a half.

Bank of America High Yield CD offer?? for real? i just saw the online ad for the new 7-month CD with BofA...for 4.11%, and i had a question about its wording. when i went to the site, there's this asterisk that states: 1' The Annual Percentage Yield (APY) is accurate as of 7/23/2008. This promotional APY applies only to the initial term of a new High Yield CD with a 7-month term that is opened online through bankofamerica.com. We may change this promotional APY at any time without prior notice. The minimum balance required to open a High Yield CD is $5,000. We may limit the amount you may invest in one or more High Yield CDs to a total of $500,000. Alternative terms not allowed' What's getting to me is the line: 'We may change this promotional APY at any time without prior notice'. Does this mean that if i open the CD now, at 4.11%, they can change that rate to like 2.5% during the 7months i have it with them? I thought that CDs were locked into the rate you started with, up until the time your account matures?
Why is this fund having such high yield? (UKPIX)? Look up the symbol on yahoo finance, the YTD return is 66%. Do you think it will continue to yield this high, and is it good to invest 500-1000 to see if it will pay 66% return? Those experienced investors, please advise, thanks!
