What is the best way for a dependent student to invest extra money? Can I establish a Roth IRA? I'm still in college and dependent on my parents, but I want to start investing. I want to be able to invest easily - i.e. transfer from my bank account regularly, but I don't want to be socked with fees (like Sharebuilder). It seems like a Roth IRA is a good option, but I don't know if I'm eligible to open one given that I'm a dependent. If tax barriers make it impossible for me to start investing, there's really no incentive to earn extra money and invest it, or to spend more wisely and invest the money I save. 10 points to the person who can give me the best insight into this problem.
So I have money (invested wisely early on), no relatives (passed away or in a different country), and am 34...? Is a CD a good choice to invest our wedding gift money? I recently got married and we got mostly money like we asked for, but I want to make sure that this money is invested wisely for our future. I like ING Direct and was looking at their CDs at a 3.75% apr rate and thought that it may be a good idea to invest a large portion of this money there, as we probably won't touch the money for 6 or 12 months. Any suggestions to other means of investing our money. I am a conservative investor and would only put the money in something guaranteed. total amount = $2500

Ethics:Does my aunt have the right to do this? My aunt gave me a huge sum of money for my birthday....so i decided to spend it all on this thing that she finds useless...now is it ethical for her to dictate how i spend the money?or is it unethical for her to do so because i accepted the money under no such condition? When this is the case, i can assume that she decided giving me money so that she can control me in the future, make me buy something she wanted me to buy, educate me on investing money wisely, etc(what i mean here is people always do the most selfish thing possible). So am i ripping her off by not giving her this privilege(as in was this a deal that is accepted by everyone without any verbal agreement)?Or am i justified in doing so because i was not aware of the condition under which i accepted the money? And what if controlling what i buy has put me in a much worse condition than when i had no money? KSR, i bought myself a home gym emmettgolf, 'After explaining that you did it because you foolishly thought that taking care of your health would make your mind perform better and allow you to do better in school' you have no basis for that

Libs tend to say the rich have too much money;how much is too much? And why shouldn't those who invest and earn wisely be able to keep the majority of what they have. If a lib wins 50 million in the lottery, should we take the majority of it because they didn't "earn" it?

From: peter akanga <peter_akanga01@yahoo.fr> To: Derek Wall <yoaopessoa@yahoo.co.uk> Sent: Friday, 20 July, 2007 6:47:47 PM Subject: RE : Re: Dear brother, Dear Brother, I am writing to thank you for you’re good response to my message to you and your kind mind to assist me in this hour of need. You have to keep this confidential and no other body should know about this, till the money is transferred to you and you bring me up to your country. Please promise me that you are not going to change your mind if the money is transferred to you, because this is the highest risk I am taken in my life. Why do people think that $200+ million roster should equal a World Series? I find it very narrow minded thinking that just because you spend all that money Steinbrenner should expect and deserve a Championship. Who is the judge to say that is a better way of running a team. Doesnt the owner and GM who uses their scouts to asses talent and grow them in the farm system for years and make intellegent free agent aquisitions just as deserving of a Championship. To me that sounds like more work and more deserving. Anyone can write a check if you have it. But if you honestly tell me all the money he spends in wisely invested you are very dilusional. Seeing as 3 of the 4 teams in the World Series are ranked in the 20's in payroll and some of the last few years Champions have come from these type teams tell me why that is the better way to go. Sounds more like bad business dealings from a greedy owner. All I am saying is that is an inflated salary. Are you telling me Clemens is worth what they are paying him. Players are getting older and past their prime. If the salaries were hidden and we didnt know who made what, the Yankees would not be the best team in the league. I cant blame it all on Torre, some is mismanaged money.
how can i make more money by investing the money i have now? i have a small amount of money, how could i invest/ spend it wisely to make a profit! In a short time!

What is the best way to learn about investing/ saving/ becoming financially free? I've read a few books by Donald Trump, Robert Kiryosaki (yeah misspelled), Dave Ramsey, and a few others. I just don't feel like I understand a lot of things - many books start off like you have some financial knowledge - I don't really - especially with terminology. Are there any books anyone recommends? Or classes (perhaps online classes?) Or clubs or websites? I want to have a financial IQ - I want to understand how to build wealth - not get rich quick kind of wealth - but the more long-term kind of wealth. I want to really understand how to wisely invest my money. What are your suggestions about how to learn?

Austin At Mania? He had some interesting news about the possibility of appearing at WrestleMania 24: "There was a pitch thrown at me for WrestleMania [24 in Orlando], but I turned it down,'' he said. ''I'd like to go to the Hall of Fame and see the guys get inducted. They got enough talent in WWE that they don't need me for WrestleMania, and it's not my desire to go back into the ring. If I really needed the money, I'd go back in the ring, but I've been conservative with my money and invested wisely. I have fond memories of the business, and I love the business, but I don't miss it." -what are your thoughts on this?
I want to invest & earn without paying taxes or interest? I thought the whole purpose of investing was to get good returns & profit from the experience? Everything I have seen seems to indicate that in the end you will end up with only what you put in...I have a little bit of money I'd like to invest without having to pay tax on the interest. I have lost part of my original down payment on a house due to not being able to carry it through the tough times...what can I do to get back on track & begin to invest wisely? If the answer to this is truly dream on! then makes no difference if I remove my funds from the bank all together & stash them! It isn't that I don't expect to pay taxes...however I paid enough just trying to make the money! I'm just seeking a way to make the most of my investments... If it's a savings account how can you lose? Unless it's really a form of investment account like any other? Can you elaborate more?
Will People Save Their Money And Stick To The Money Saving Lessons That We Have Learned(I Hope)? Generation X and Generation XYZ have to keep saving their money, invest wisely and think for the long term and don't spent their money on foolishness like new cars, leasing new cars, building Mc Mansions, eating out everyday and thinking that they are Brad, Angelina, Madonna, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan. Money does not grow on trees and as the economy improves and jobs return, Americans must increase their savings and do not revert to the bad old days of living on Credit and a dream. Cook for yourself, buy a used car, educate yourself on investing, read Financial publications or visit them online like Bloomberg, Wall Street Journal, FOX Business News, Forbes. Observe how people save and invest. Be frugal and patient.
Project for sociology help? I'm doing a project proposal for my Intro to Socioology and we had to come up with a hypothesis. Here's what I came up with: Though women shop more than men, men are more likely to spend more money. Here's some things that I have to take into account. I'm talking about money spent on oneself, which can be complicated if one is a relationship. While I am single, I have more money to spend on myself, my roommate however splits the cost of dates, and buys gifts for her guy. Also, reasoning behind my hypothesis. Women buy little things(accessories, clothes, personal items, grooming items, etc.) We spend more time around stores, yes, but we're buying relatively low cost stuff. Men however buy things of more value. For instance, video game consoles, video games, cars, gadgets and other things for their cars, grooming items, etc. They sort of invest their money "wisely" I suppose, while we women live day to day-in a sense. Please tell me if you agree, disagree.
how can i get people to think im poor? every one assumes im loaded but i drive the same old car for the past 5 years and i own it outright and no debt. Can someone with knowledge help me with my 401k plan? I'm 23 years old and this will be my first time enrolling. They told me that the company that I work for will match 25% on the dollar of what I contribute. I am just wondering how much is good to start, I have absolutely NO IDEA about this. They told me 5% is good for now? what can anyone tell me? Also I want my money to increase of course so how can I invest my money wisely?? They told me I should put 100% on Freedom fund 2050 and that they do all the work for me. Can someone out there recommend something to me? I appreciate the help. Like I said I am completely clueless!! thank you
Question about class? For various reasons, I'd like to become as classy as possible. I realize "classy" can have a different meaning to each person, but I'm speaking in general terms. I was born into a middle-class family, attended public schools, and did most everything in an average manner. I'm currently 20, so I'd like to make adjustments before I get much older. I'm not sure where to start. I plan to build up a classic wardrobe, invest my money wisely, avoid debt, increase my vocabulary, attend a nice private college, and work hard at everything I do. I realize that class isn't everything, but it's undeniable that certain levels exist in this game of life. How can I reach the highest level available to me? Thanks in advance.
Why do most sports stars have zero class? Seriously, you see all these sports stars who can barely speak proper English rolling around in their ghettofied, tricked out Lincoln Escalades and Hummers that look so d@mn tacky. And then you see them on interviews off the field, and most of them have this really crappy smirk on their face, talking about how they "gone get some" tonight or talking about their Gucci shoes and their "fly" ice. Seriously, I rarely see any football or basketball players that seem like they have any dignity or class. As soon as they start making the big bucks, they blow it on flashy $hit that just screams "you can't buy class." What happens to them when they're not making any dough, when their careers are over? Since most can't even write a full paragraph and have no ability to invest their money wisely, what then?
what do you make of this email i just recieved????? Dear Friend, I am writing this letter in confidence believing that if it is the wish of Allah for you to help me and my family, Allah will bless and reward you abundantly and you would never regret this.My family and I are true moslems and worship Allah truthfully. I got your contact during my search for this assistance. I am a female student from University Burkina Faso, Ouaga. I am 23yrs old. I'd like any person who can be caring, loving and home oriented.I will love to have a long-term relationship with you and to know more about you. I would like to build up a solid foundation with you in time coming if you can be able to help me in this transaction. Well,my father died last year and left I and my junior brother behind. He was a king, which our town citizens titled him over sixteen years before his death. I was a princess to him and I am the only person who can take care of his wealth now because my junior brother is still young and my mother is not literate enough to know all my father's wealth. He left the sum of USD 7.5M (Seven Million, Five Hundred Thousand USDollars)in a Vault House. This money was annually paid to my late father from gold mining development company(spdc)and chevronoil company operating in our locality for the compensation of youth and community development in our jurisdiction. I don't know how and what I will do to invest this money somewhere in abroad, so that my father's kindred will not take over what belongs to my father and our family, which they were planning to do without my consent because I am a female as stated by our culture in the town. Now,I urgently need your humble assistance to move this money from the security company to your bank account, That is why I felt happy when I saw your contact because I strongly believe that by the grace of Allah, you will help me invest this money wisely. I am ready to pay 30% of the total amount to you if you help us in this transaction and another 10% interest of Annual After Income to you, for handling this transaction for us,which you will strongly have absolute control over it. If you can handle this project sincerely and also willing to assist me in lifting this fund, kindly reach me.Please, note that this transaction is 100% risk free and I hope to commence the transaction as quick as possible,I will send you my picture as soon as I hear from you for recognition. contact me through my e-mail: faisatfarouk@yahoo.com Hope to read from you soon. Yours Faithfully, FAISAT FAROUK lol nowadays people are sayin they are islamic just to get a bit of money
If you had 3 million pounds or dollars where will you invest ? Yes, you get 3 million pounds to invest wisely and no not going completely crazy since you have got money and waste all of them. No charity , No paying bills but actually putting money somewhere so that it grows atleast double or triple in certain time. Let me know I didn't mention earlier but yes I have 3 million pounds and I wish to invest where I get good returns. I do not wish to go to financial adviser who f*cks my money up and who gets their sales percentage so if you are creative and good with money....that is so important . I am interested in knowing how sensible you are with your money.
Is it a good idea to buy a 2/2 bed/bath condo with view of Balboa Park in downtown SD now or buy later? I have $200K in cash. Want to invest it in real estate, but not sure if a cool downtown condo is the wisest investment. I like the Cortez Hill area not the Gasslamp-too crowded! I only want to borrow another $250K max. For a total $400 or $450K purchase. I'm looking to invest this money wisely. Any knowledgeable honest advice in the subject out there?

I have a friend who is a single retired man who claims he is perfectly happy right now. His problem ? ( which I wish was a problem of mine) is that he is about to come into a substantial amout of money and he isn't sure whether to follow his heart or listen to level headed financial advice and invest his money wisely. I do believe that his hearts desire has to do with alot with a woman and he is a little undecisive about taking a chance. Any advice I could possibly give my friend?

All I want to know is how to convert money into stocks. Can I make good money off the stock market? I'm very young, 24, and don't even have a real job yet (won't until a year from now at the earliest) but when I do get some cash I'd like to invest it, wisely, in stocks. I'd be very active about it making sure to find out all the information and education on the subject and stocks that I can. Do you think this is a good idea?
Would The Nature Boy Ric Flair Would Be Financially Set For Life Today If He Had Been More Frugal ? I heard that he was a very big spender who spend money like people drink water who never thought about tomorrow and wanted instant gratification and only thought about the now. Unlike wrestlers like Bill Goldberg, The Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, JBL, Bret The Hitman Hart, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, etc who invested their money more wisely.
What should I do about friends who constantly ask for money? Most of my "friends" constantly ask me for money or for me to co-sign for something or put my name on an account in promise they pay me back. I come from a very well-to-do family, and I work hard (in addition to save and invest wisely, build excellent credit, and live way below my means). I am considered a "tightwad penny pincher" by a lot of my friends because I am frugal but have a lot of assets. I paid a friend's probation off ($4,000 in cash) and never seem to ever get what I let people borrow back. I am set to a large inheritance and I'm afraid that my nightmare of beggers will never end. There is more to the story. I am 23 years old, and have more money than my friends in their forties. They resent it because of the age difference and I can do whatever in reason. I don't want people to know about my money. How can I hide my 'wealth' so friends can like me for me not because of my bank account and other assets? Please offer me some advice on this. Thank you in advance.
ideas please? I am a Brtish woman working in NL (Holland) I have been on the internet actively in the past weeks - on this site in particular. I have been very fortunate to have been left a small ammount of money by a relative. I have always been in the red so it is a real godsend that I now can afford a few little luxuries. I am very hesitant in spending any more and would like to invest this money wisely. Any ideas would be more than welcome. Thanks in advance Thank you for your prompt replies. I have looked into the ISA's. What happens to it after the one year. I have two boys one 20 and one aged 17 can I also have ISA's for them. One more question what is the best an annual high interest account or one that I can tie up for maybe five years.
Do you agree that it is absurd that a young adult can acquire a student loan for 20,000 but not seed money? In my opinion, it is absurd that a young adult can acquire a student loan for 20,000+ but can't receive a loan for 5,000 with a higher interest rate. What do you think is the rationale of such a preposterous notion? Could it be that oppressive people feel that a student can be short-changed in their education by well-placed distractions, but that seed money can be wisely invested and well-guarded by the adult? I don't have anything against a college education. In fact, I am an advocate of college education. I believe that an individual who possesses a degree ought to be able to find a job outside of the fast food sector. I am curious of your opinion for this matter. I suspect that people will state that young adults can't be trusted with money. However, if that is the case then why are they given the student loans. Money is money is money. If your response is along the lines of college based mediation of funds then what do you suggest a college should do to enable adults? David M: "A college loan is betting on ones life, where seed money is betting on a single business (most of which fail). If you make a good case for your business and bring a certain amount of capital, you might be surprised at how well it could be received. When making a student loan, the lenders are betting that this person will find some job even if it's not the ideal one. A safer bet in their mind." I don't agree. It isn't betting on a single business. Do you recall in days past when apprenticeship was purchased. I think it is correct to state that seed money can be used to purchase internship into many businesses if necessary. In doing so, the purchaser is making an educated decision on whether the purchase of an opportunity to demonstrate abilities within the company will turn over into full-time employment. In a sense, seed money used in such a way would yield a faster, more efficient, return for the investing bank; weeks rather than years.

How can I make money? Whats a good way to make money? I got a two jobs and I save my money. Gotta spend alot but I still save. Like how can I invest in stocks wisely? Other things to invest in?
how should i manage my money and what will my net worth be? I am 30 years old, making 200K, a year. My net worth is 0 as of today but also I have no debt either.......I am a physician, literally just finished residency and this is my first year earning real bucks....lets say from age 30 to age 60 i make this same amount on average to, how much should i put away each year REALISTICALLY AND IDEALLY(assuming of expenses I end up buying a house costing 400-5K, and 2 cars maybe 40K each, and am married with 2 kids/ want to put my kids through private college. as far as savings, i have a roth IRA currently valued at 30,000 (thou I dont qualify to invest any more), so this will stay untouched until about 60......assuming that I invest/save wisely, and have the above major expenses to pay, what will you guess my net worth would be at age 60 i know this is long, and largely subjective/hard to give absolute predictions but any help is predicted, ive never handled money and often physicians are lousy with money, and I wouldn't want to fall into that
I want to make £1million over the next 5 years. How do I do it ? Legal and sensible answers only please!? I have no savings or property of significant value, my salary is average and is not going to supply me with the funds I seek, no matter how hard I save or how wisely I invest. £1m is not excessive in today's money - it just means I could retire on approx £50k a year based on 5% interest. How do I do it?
Need help planning for retirement, how do I get started with an IRA or Roth IRA? (A 401K is not an option)? Here are the details. I'm 23 working full-time for a small non-profit. Through my job I am offered no benefits, no health insurance and definitely not a 401K. A couple of months ago, I picked up a second job to finish paying off my credit card debt. And now that the debt is gone, I need a way to wisely invest my income. I have plans to set up a 6mo. CD (or a couple of them), so that I can be earning something on my money, but still have it relatively available. I've been reading lots of articles online about investing for my future, but still need help. I'd start with $1000 and plan to invest at least $100 every month. Does anyone have any bright ideas for me? I appreciate your answers so far, but as a quick clarification. I'm looking to start a couple of short term CDs in addition to whatever major investment I may make. The CDs would be my "in case of emergency" fund. I'd just rather have them in a 6mo CD earning 4.5% than my savings account earned 2%.
What do you think I should do with the money?? Facts: I'm 21 earning in a great project coordinator job earning $1500AUD weekly clear I just sold my car and made $9500 for it I am buying a new car on a novated lease because I am a contractor so will make weekly repayments I want to: - Pay off my $4000 credit card or reduce the limit to $1500 -Pay off whats left of loan $13,000 although I am making the required weekly repayments and greater than minimum amount and there is no rush by the bank to pay this quicker -Need to pay tax owing of $1700 after tax return -Want to have my nose done as this is something that means alot to me and would make me much more slef confident, happy and relieved as it is something I just cant accept Now the questions are: should I pay off credit card and reduce limit for emergencies? should I pay the tax all in one go? should I continue making weekly payments to loan rather than using money from car should I invest some and how do you think I can invest a few thousand wisely?
how is it that "trickle down" economy is supposed to work, but raising minimum wage doesnt? trickle down puts more money into the hands of big companies, they in turn are supposed to invest wisely and hire more workers as a result...its a theory(proven to fail, but lets continue anyways)....minimum wage puts money into the hands of consumers, and they in turn spend it on products or services which also feeds the economy.......so why do some support one and not the other?
How much do financial advisors charge you to buy a mutual fund/529 college savings plan? I want to buy my daughter a college savings plan (for Christmas?) but I am worried that there are fees you have to pay the financial advisors and I can't afford to put very much away for her education as it is. Does anybody know how much they charge and if you have to mee with them every so often? I just want to give them the money and tell them to invest it as wisely as they know how and then put $25 to$100 in it a month and not touch it or think about until she's ready for college.
Endowment policy advice needed? I have an endowment policy that is due to mature in 2013. There is no mortgage linked to this policy and I have been using it as a savings plan. The life insurance element of the policy is no good to me as if I die before it matures the life cover pay out would go to someone else (part of a divorce agreement). The insurance company are quoting a surrender value of apx £17K, with a forecast of around £30K if I wait until 2013. I will be 63 in 2013 and am worried that if I don't make 63, I won't see a penny of this and it'll all go to my ex. A solicitor has advised me that under the wording of the divorce agreement I could surrender the policy, invest the money more wisely and in the event of my death before 2013 my ex would only get the surrender value. It is bothering me that I am paying £700 a year into a policy that I may get no benefit from. Any advice please. To clarify, if my ex dies before me then I have sole rights to the policy and can nominate a new beneficiary for the life element. If I survive beyond the maturity date then I collect the £30K and the ex gets nothing.
