What other things can you invest in besides stocks, bonds, money markets, and mutual funds? I've already invested into a mutual fund, I have a couple cd's already, but I'm wanting to invest in some of the weird stuff that many people haven't heard of. I'm looking into purchasing tax lien certificates and have thought about the real estate, but I'd like to find something a little less complicated than real estate. I'd like to add I JUST turned 27 a couple months ago.
I wanted to invest money in a stock. Which one should I choose? I wanted to invest money in a stock and hopefully have it grow instead of having it sit in a bank. I need a stock whose shares are not too expensive. So far I have looked into Sisco, EMC and Navios. Do you expect an investment in any of these companies to be profitable in the long run? Also, do you know some other stocks that would be wise to invest in?
What Stocks Should I Invest my Money in??? I am 20 years old, I work for Verizon Wireless. I do have a 401k started. Basically I just wanted to invest my money in a very safe way that would yield good returns over a long length of time because right now my money is just sitting in my bank account doing nothing. In other words I'm not looking for the get rich quick stocks. Also how much of my paycheck should I devote to investing as opposed to just saving because you never know when the stock market could crash etc. My grandparents have a crap load of GE stock which seems to be a reliable one...just throwin it out there. I'd really appreciate any responses and please break it down to me because obviously I am not savvy with market terms etc...im green...a newbie. THANKYOU!
What is the safest and most profitable way to invest >$200K, besides stocks, bond, and money market? What is the safest and most profitable way to invest >$200K, besides stocks, bond, and money market? We sold our property in VA and overseas for over $200K, and currently live in Ann Arbor, Mi, where the tax on property is too high, thus making investment in real estate outside the option. We are risk averse, and would not consider money market, stocks or bonds and the like. Besides these investment options, which any the other safest and most profitable business to invest this money that currently sits in the bank for an interest of 5.25%? Currently, we have a mortgage on our house, and the rate is 6.5%. We can pay off our current house with the money in the bank, but unsure whether this is a wise decision, if there are other ways to more profitably invest the money. Suggestions and answers are appreciated.
I am looking to invest some money, perhaps in stocks? I am looking to invest 1,500 dollars. I am only 18 and I am looking for it to be about a 5 year investment. Should one borrow money from banks to invest in shares /stocks IPO? I wanted to invest in stock market and I dont have money, but my real problem is... should I borrow money from commercial banks to invest in the Initial Public Offer(IPO). Is it too risky. Everyone thinks it will go up. Some thinks it will depriciate and hence I may loose. Help
What is there safe to invest in now(within money market, bonds, stocks)? I just have lost @ 7% and am uneasy. I am 60. I have a stock fund leaning, and I want to make up for some lost time, but seeing money disappear like the 7% is awful. Have moderate pension promised, have deferred compensation fund plan with bad choices, have IRAs over the years. No financial advisor, don't own individual stocks, no home, no long term health insurance except with job which I plan to leave in six years. I ran all this through Morningstar portfolio snapshot and it is aggressive, but said to be balanced. Today I chose a total bond market index to balance off things in the IRA department. I am maxing out in the catch up provision at work, but there is no company match, and I read in Jim Cramer's writing to let up on that and go for investments to grow wealth rather than try to get a tax break within the limits of the plan fund choices. Puzzled and need to invest in IRA for 2008, but don't know what is reasonable.

Where should I invest my money tips mutual funds stocks? Okay, So I've got about $9000 that's been sitting in my Starone.org credit union earning 5%. Well I've just finished reading the Wealthy Barber , Richest Man in Babylon & Dave Ramsey books. They all seem to say I should open a Mutual Fund with a good portfolio manager. Can someone tell me where I can start researching this. Better yet. Can someone just list a few examples of Mutual funds I can throw some of the money in now while I research things as I go? Any other suggestions welcome. But I'm getting tired of researching things on my own right now only getting more lost. These are all Fantastic answers so far. keep 'em coming. Maybe I don't know any better but I was hoping If someone can be a little more specific as to what they are investing in right now. And to which Mutual Fund group and with which company. I appreciate everything so far. You are all gentlemen and scholars.
Invest in Stocks? I hear a lot of talk about how people invest their monies in stocks, and how you can see your money grow fast. I'm in my mid 20s, and I haven't started in a career yet (finishing school in 08), but I want to start investing my money for the future. How can I start investing in stocks? Is it easy to start? What do I need to start? Is there anyone I need to talk to first? What are the best stocks to invest in? I know I have so many questions, but I really don't know much about this. Thanks for the advice!
how to invest money in china or hongkong stock market? Does anyone know how to invest money in china or hongkong market? I mean if I want to buy ICBC stock or its options(which is the HOTTEST IPO coming up btw), what is the procedure? The stock broker in US can't do it right?
How can I invest in individual stocks with only $25 per month? I already invest in a 401(k), IRA and mutual funds, but I want to start buying some individual stocks, or exchange traded funds. I'm just starting out, so I don't have a lot to invest. I've heard Sharebuilder is a good website to use, but on Money magazine's website, it said that it wasn't the place for a $40/month investor. Apparently the money that you spend to buy the stocks offsets most gains that a stock could earn (if you're investing very little). Does anyone have any other suggestions how to invest this small amount of money in stocks? Is Money magazine wrong in stating that you won't make money? I doubt they are, but just curious if anyone else has another view point.
