Can anyone recommend a good website to teach me the basics of investing my 401K? I have very basic knowledge of investing in stocks and have actually built a small portfolio over the past 13 years or so. However, I have no idea how to invest 401K money where I have to choose from limited funds and investment vehicles. I've read several books and they all seem to contradict each other in their advice. Can anyone recommend a good website or book that will help me understand the basics so I can make my own decisions? Thanks!

Can you assist me in developing a basic strategy for a little investing? I'm finally starting to recover from the stock market crash a few years ago, where I stupidly had everything tied up in techs, and lost just about everything... so i dont want that to happen again! I'm up to about $20k that is readily available to invest, and I will be able to add about $1000 per month to that. I need some ideas that will get me on the right track. I dont mind a high risk factor, but i dont want to be too stupid like last time, either. I'm thinking a little short-term, some long-term, and some high risk, but dont know what percentages to put where, or where to put it, and would definitely welcome some advice.
Basic investing? I have a few thousand saved up and I am debating what to do next, put it in a short term CD, take it out, and then put it in stocks? How easy is doing Etrade or are there better options? The question is more about putting the money somewhere that I can get a decent return on that I can forget about for a while and come back to. I wanted to get an idea from others what they're comfortable doing if they're on a budget and have some tax return money coming to them.
Teenager interested in investing in stocks? Hi, I'm 17 but I have a real interest in the business world and aspire to become apart of it after I attend university. However, I feel like I am not getting involved enough so I wish to start participating in investing. The problem is, I don't know much about getting started and need a little information. I'll probably be doing this on the Toronto stock exchange. Do I have to be of certain age to invest my money? Is their a minimum amount of money that you are required to invest? Are their any good sites that teach younger people about the basics of investing and how to get involved? Thanks again. I plan to make investing a hobby of mine, however I don't have much money. Only about 175$. Well I am attracted to investing because to me it seems like a game in which the rewards are great if you play well. I also look forward to checking my stocks all the time to see if they rise or fall. All in all, it can also be a great educational experience for me.

Investing for the first time? Hi I'm and interested in investing . I've been reading about the "Certificated service" on the Lloyds TSB website, and have a few questions since I'm quite new to it all: >What are costs (apart from buying shares)- it says on the site "Buy or sell online using share certificates for just £27.50". It also says "No account fee and no fuss". What does this mean? Is the £27.50 the cost for starting investing or a regular payment? >What's the biggest loss that I can make? I mean is there any way I can lose the money in my normal bank account (that I haven't invested) or is it that I'll only lose some/all of the money that I had invested? >Is my basic understanding correct, that I purchase shares in a company that I think will do well, and when the price per share has risen, I sell them on for more? Sorry if these questions are a little stupid. I'm only 16 and I want to do something useful with my EMA grant. Thanks! ^_^
