How would you invest $15k short term (12 months) to make it grow as quickly as possible?

Public Comments

  1. The safest sure way would be to invest in 12 month CD or certificate of deposit with a bank . Your money is guaranteed to grow at the specified amount with no risk.To have rapid growth would require more risk and knowledge of investments.
  2. It depends on if the state and municipality that you live in (and their associated tax rates). If you have a state income tax, then your rate of return may be better on T-Bills than on a CD. (See first link) T-Bills are issued by Uncle Sam, so bankruptcy is highly unlikely. They also mature relatively quickly (within a year or so). Current T-Bill rates are available at the second link. If you want a greater rate of return, you might look at municipal bonds (some of which are federal, state, and municipal tax-free, if I recall right). Good quality corporate bonds, such as those that are AAA and AA rated, are also fine, but no lower than BBB (or Baa). Anything lower is either speculative or is a junk bond (below B). See the third link for more info on bond ratings. You can get current bond prices from any issue of the Wall Street Journal, and your broker should be able to help you with the purchase of these. Hope this helps.
  3. You can make money from stocks by trying this site below. You just need to follow their stock recommendation and make money. It is really that simple. I have made quite a pile of money just by following their recommendations even though I have little experience in stocks. Their stock trading result is over 100% gain in profit per trade in 2007! http://hubpages.com/hub/Doubling_Stocks_An_Easy_Way_to_Make_Money
  4. Did you know that there are investments that have an average interest higher than CD's and not subjected to state or federal income taxes? Would you like it if they were secured by local, state and federal governments? Would it be nice if you were able to make a withdrawal and they were in your checking account with minimum charges within 2 business days. Check out municipal bond funds. Are you ready to start? Would you like more information? Let me know. -Marcus marcuskthomson@yahoo.com
