Going to school. Should I work part time or take time to learn(things other than school) to prepare for life?

I'll be in school for the next few years, living with my parents and being supported by my parents. I can get a part time job making $8-12 per hr. to invest money in a ira or I can invest time in learning (things besides school such as learning about the stock market, business, self help and how to be successful, etc) so i am prepared for life when I graduate. What do you think would be a wise choice for me?

  1. Get a job where you can get paid and at the same time learn and gain experience which will probably be more useful in the future.
  2. Frankly I'd say do nothing that will take away your concentration from school. If you work, sometimes you'll be too absorb to your work or too tired from work to concentrate 100% on your studies, to which the results are much more important. you'll have plenty of time to work or learn more things after you live off yourself.
