Can I re-entry into United States by approving I-511 stamp process without having green card?

I am lawful permanent resident of United States, but I am still waiting for green card to mail me soon. I just visited to Korea for my family then come back to America. When enter immigration like US Customs and Border Protection, immigration officer seem not believe me then go to secondary office to invest my immigration information about 20 minutes. Have you experienced that you did re-entry into US by approving I-511 stamp process without green card quickly?

1. The I-551 stamp in your passport is good ... although they may still check it ...
2. I have heard of some people were held longer and were made to wait to another office within the airport for more interview.I think it is because they still need to verify the I-551 stamp since you cannot present a valid green card at that time.Unless you were maltreated or abused, I think they have that prerogative based on their capacity as an Immigration Officers.
