What exactly is a Cd (money savings) and what are different investing options?

- A CD is a certificate of deposit in this context (it also means compact disk in a unrelated context). You deposit money at a bank for a certain amount of time. They agree to pay a certain interest rate for that time period. However, if you withdraw the money before the end of that time, then there is a substantial penalty.
- CD stands for Certificate of Deposit or in investing circle they call it Certificate of "Depreciation" since it normally does not keep pace with inflation. You should try putting some of your money in the market. check out this site if you are willing to take a little risk but honestly you are really risking more just by trying to play it too safe.
