Mutual fund?

Does the mutual fund manager tell where he is investing our money? I mean the names of the companies

  1. Yes. That is what the Prospectus is for.
  2. Yes, all mutual funds list the companies and the number of shares they own. You will own shares of the mutual fund, not the specific companies the mutual fund invests in.

  5. Yes, all mutual funds must file periodic public reports that detail the fund's holdings.
  6. Absolutely! However, this information is not provided to you on a daily basis. You can see it in the fund's quarterly report or semi annual or annual report. Fund managers can change the positions held in a fund at anytime. That is what they do. They can add or subtract a position or they can increase or decrease the size of a position at anytime. Most fund websites will give you the top 10 positions on a daily basis but do not provide a list of every stock or bond in the entire portfolio. Fund websites will also give you the percentage of money they have invested in various sectors of the economy. Please read my profile and lets chat.
