can we invest 5% of our national income in converting solar energy into electrical energy i.e investing in R&D

we all know that most of the country of the world use nuclear energy to fullfil the demand of electricity, in defence , in medical field of the country which is most economical in todays world on the same time weall know the effect of it also very well. Is it not possible to the goverment of all the country of the world to come together and workout by which it will be possible to get device that can convert solar energy into electrical energy at minimum cost that will be easily available to common man.It is a million dollar question because it is international problem,so the views and opinion should be of all the people that live on this planet

  1. yes v good idea
  2. 1. We "could", but the question is "should" we. 2. Your grammar, spelling, and sentence structure is horrible.
  3. No... it would be a huge waste of money and would never be able to supply nearly enough energy to be significant source of energy.
  4. Current solar panels are not cost effective yet. It looks likely that there soon will be better more efficient panels but it will in all likelihood still be the most costly way to generate electricity. There are other methods other than solar panels though and they offer far better returns. The most promising is the use of mirrors to focus the sun to form a heat source. This can drive a sterling engine or even produce steam for turbines. Small plants are in use in the US and it is being suggested that huge arrays should be built in the Sahara desert that would generate enough electricity for the whole of Europe. It would also be practical in some desert areas of the US.
  5. GOOD IDEA!!! Vin
