If I want to learn how to play the pipe organ, should I invest in buying a organ with a 32 note pedal board?

I want to learn how to play the pipe organ, and I already have a small spinet organ. I need to get a bigger organ with a full pedal board. There are organs with 25 note pedal boards and organs with 32 note pedal boards. should I spend the extra money and buy a bigger organ? what are some good brands?

  1. Heavens, No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No.-----------------. Not unless you have a couple of million in the bank. The organ as you probably know, is "known" as "The King of Instruments". Many young would be musicians aspire to play these formidable instruments. But the more you get into playing them, the more you discover how incrediably difficult they are to play. The ability to competently perform on the foot pedals with both feet, while executing a performance with both hands - all 4 at the same time - is a rare talent: you have to have incredidably neuro-anatomophysiological control in order to achieve this. Are you really sure you possess this very rare capability? I thought I might have - I'm an accomplished pianist - but I was a dismal, pathetic failure when it came to competently performing on this mighty instrument. Better think twice, and long and hard before making such a monetary investment. If you aren't already taking lessons from a most reputable, established organists, you should begin to do so right away. It's always best to know what you're getting into, prior to laying out any considerable sum of money for the furtherance of you interest, only to learn later on that it wasn't as great as you thought it would be. If you're the one putting out money for an investment such as you propose, and you can really afford it, fine; but if you're still under your parents tutelage, talk about this purchase with them first, before hand. You want be sorry you did. Good luck, Wotan
  2. Learn how to play your present organ properly (get a good teacher) and don't think of investing in another one until you really need one. If you can, look for a church with an organist who will let you get the feel of a full sized instrument. Don't let the snob who gave you that other long winded answer stop you.
