Question about class?

For various reasons, I'd like to become as classy as possible. I realize "classy" can have a different meaning to each person, but I'm speaking in general terms. I was born into a middle-class family, attended public schools, and did most everything in an average manner. I'm currently 20, so I'd like to make adjustments before I get much older. I'm not sure where to start. I plan to build up a classic wardrobe, invest my money wisely, avoid debt, increase my vocabulary, attend a nice private college, and work hard at everything I do. I realize that class isn't everything, but it's undeniable that certain levels exist in this game of life. How can I reach the highest level available to me? Thanks in advance.

  1. materialism=shallowness the one thing that gets you respect in life is a solid work ethic, regardless of your background. it's good that you acknowledged that
  2. Choose classy friends, emulate those you admire, read etiquette books, get a good education, maintain always an even temperament no matter who pisses you off, rarely pass up an opportunity to learn from those that have achieved the dreams you desire. Good Luck!
  3. Class...kind, giving, warm, thoughtful etc. Classless - red sox fans
  4. Yay Red Sox!!!!
  5. You can't buy class (read: Paris Hilton) but, you can try to acquire it through etiquette and education. They do sell etiquette books, however, it's small things, like sending thank you cards and being gracious to others that exhibit the most class. Some things that are just very tacky have absorbed into youth culture and are now regarded as trendy, like sleeping around, dressing in a sleazy way, getting drunk and acting like a fool, or doing drugs. Learn what you body shape is and dress to compliment that shape, this is the easiest "tacky" mistake to make. It's hard because class is not snobbery, one must learn the appreciation of art and different authentic dialects. I am a writer, and, although I speak correctly, not all of my characters do because it would not be right for them. Take some art classes, history classes, and literature classes, these subjects will help you to become cultured. Travel as much as you can and see as many different plays, movies, and ballets as you can and go to the orchestra.
